Pittsburgh Soccer Weekly Round-Up

ICC not coming to Pittsburgh this summer

It was no surprise, but earlier this week the International Champions Cup, announced their schedule, including dates and venues for tournament that will once again include some of the top European clubs.

Last year, Heinz Field hosted Manchester City (England) against AC Milan (Italy) – and in an ICC round-robin match that drew more than 35,000 people to Pittsburgh.

There will be no "in-game" selfies for Mario Balotelli or any other big name soccer stars in Pittsburgh this summer.

Although there won’t be an ICC game played in Pittsburgh this summer, there will be games played at venues within driving distances such as Fed Ex Field and Red Bull Arena.   You can find the complete schedule on the International Champions Cup web page.

We will be waiting to see what transpires in the coming weeks to see if the Riverhounds try to schedule a friendly with an European club that might be coming to the U.S. for preseason.   The Riverhounds played a friendly against Wigan F.C. in July 2013.
