USWNT World Cup Trophy To Be On Display In Market Square/Carnegie Museum of Art

To a City of Champions —  that has had the Stanley Cup, Vince Lombardi and World Series Trophies — and home to College National Champions and numerous Olympic Gold Medal winners — you can now add a World Cup to Pittsburgh sports lore.

U.S. Soccer announced today that the Women’s World Cup trophy will be on display in Pittsburgh on Friday, Aug. 14, at Market Square (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) and in the Carnegie Museum of Art galleries (3-5 p.m.).

The City of Pittsburgh is also planning a hosting a tribute to the members of the U.S. Women’s World Cup team, including Gibsonia’s Meghan Klingenberg in Market Square on Friday.  More details will be made available in the next day or so.

The U.S. Women’s National Team is coming to Pittsburgh for its first match of the Women’s World Cup Victory Tour.

More than 40,000 seats have been sold for the World Champions’ match against Costa Rica this Sunday, Aug. 16, at Heinz Field with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET. The game will be shown on FOX Sports 1 and FoxSportsGo.
