It was an up-and-down Saturday for remaining WPIAL teams.

For the second time in five days, I trekked to Central Pennsylvania to Chambersburg for PIAA soccer playoff action.

While a 3-hour drive, it provided a first-class facility and a spectacular view of the Appalachian Mountains.

Saturday’s results wasn’t as good for the Fox Chapel boys, losing a very well-played game to Springfield Delco, 2-1.

Here’s my complete game story for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

On the girls side, I had a chance to see the Norwin girls continue on, rolling past Downingtown West in convincing fashion, 3-0, as Lexi Kolano’s two goals and assist helped the Knights cruise to their 24th win without a loss.

Here’s my post-game interview with Norwin’s head coach Lauren Czabor.

Norwin will meet Upper St. Clair, who defeated Central Bucks South, 2-1, in what Panthers Head Coach Dave Gray called “a bizarre game” that was decided on a bad bounce, from a long throw-in, resulting in an own goal with less than two minutes left in the second overtime.

  1. Love your work, John. Minor correction: Norwin goals by Harrigan, Kendro (PK), Kolano. Player of game may have been Norwin centerback Jess Boytim. And what does “this video is private” mean? I can’t get the coach’s interview to play. Thanks again for your work.
