While the Duquesne Dukes men’s program extended its shutout streak to six games, they were unable to find the back of the net in Atlantic 10 Conference opener at St. Bonaventure in Olean, NY on Wednesday, in a scoreless draw.

“As we move forward with our program, we have to learn that every game matters – that you can’t take any plays off, you have to dig deep. No team in conference is going to make it easy, and tonight was living proof of that,” said Chase Brooks, Duquesne Head Coach.

“We have to learn from this and we have to move forward for a very big game against George Washington on Saturday night.”

Duquesne outshot St. Bonaventure 17-10 and had 17 corner kicks to the Bonnies’ three.

Evan Kozlowski was credited with five saves as the Dukes extended their shutout streak to a school-record six games.

Luke Iacobellis had eight saves for SBU. The Bonnies had two more shots than the Dukes in the opening 45 minutes, but DU had one more on goal (4-3) to go along with eight corner kicks. Kozlowski made a pair of saves in the final 3:02 of the half, inlcuding a diving stop of a Kwame Opoku shot in the 42nd minute.

Fredrik Borenstein had two shots on goal for DU, while Kieran Toland had a pair for SBU in the first half. The Dukes came out firing in the second half with three corners, a pair of shots on goal and a shot off the post by Borenstein in the first nine minutes.

The Dukes outshot the Bonnies 9-2, and held SBU without a shot on goal in the second half and first overtime. DU had 13 corners to three for the Bonnies at the end of regulation. Borenstein finished with three shots on goal, while Toland had four for St. Bonaventure.

The Dukes return home to face George Washington on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
