Duquesne combined stout defense with second-half goals from Austin Stout and Ryan Landry (Shaler) to post a 2-0 win at Saint Joseph’s. The Dukes got another shutout performance from goalkeeper Evan Kozlowski and strong play from the back line in upping their Atlantic 10 record to 3-1-2.

The two teams combined for just five shots – with none on goal – in a tightly contested first half. The game’s first shot on goal was posted by Saint Joseph’s Kyle Lochbihler in the 60th minute. Stout, who came on for the first time in the second half in the 62nd minute, took a cross from Cody West on the right side and put it by SJU’s Greg O’Connell in the 77th minute to break the ice.

All five of DU’s shots on goal came in the game’s final 28 minutes – the last of which off the foot of freshman Pittsburgh native Landry with 30 seconds left to seal the victory.

Kozlowski finished with a pair of saves in posting his ninth shutout of the season.

The Dukes, who had three shots at the half, ended up with 13 shots and four corners to eight and six for the Hawks.

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH Chase Brooks:
“We were able to get two late goals on the road, which was what we needed. This should give us confidence going forward.”
