Local NPSL team – @FtPittRegiment 2017 Schedule, Home Field Set

regimentThe Fort Pitt Regiment will be returning to action this Spring in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) — and while they may not know what their roster looks like at this point — its schedule and home field location for 2017 have been finalized.

The Regiment, after taking a year off in 2016, will kick off play this season on May 24 against Rochester River Dogz at Birko Memorial Stadium (Montour H.S.), which will serve as the team’s home field.

Numerous recent local college standouts who have gone on to earn pro contracts have played for the Regiment including Nico Brett, Brendan Alfery and Jamie Luchini.

The team will once again be coached by Pittsburgh soccer coaching icon — John Kowalski, who has a long career in coaching at many levels including College (Robert Morris Men, and now Robert Morris women) and professional (Pittsburgh Spirit, Pittsburgh Riverhounds first coach and Tampa Bay Mutiny/MLS) — and was even the US Men’s National Team coach for three games in 1990-91.

The team will play in the Midwest Region’s Eastern conference — in the Great Lakes East Division against opponents like AFC Cleveland, Dayton Dynamo, FC Buffalo, Erie Commodores.

The Regiment are owned and operated by PA West Soccer– the USSF national state association for youth and adult soccer in Western Pennsylvania.

The NPSL operates in the 4th Division of the United States Soccer pyramid. The NPSL touts being the fastest growing national soccer league in the United States, operating in over 80+ markets across the USA.
