Mike Seth finds new home with SAFC

After playing five seasons with his hometown Riverhounds, Mike Seth has since gone west — finding a career resurgence.

On Thursday, the 29-year old Baldwin native added San Antonio to his list of places he’s called home in his eight-year pro soccer career, signing with one of USL’s upstart franchises, San Antonio FC.

“I am happy about the move to San Antonio,” said Seth. “It’s a great group of guys and great group of coaches, so I am just looking forward to getting started and keeping things going with the team.”

Seth has made 115 USL appearances since 2010 with the Colorado Switchbacks, Phoenix Rising FC and for five seasons with his hometown team, Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

While Seth scored five goals in  64 appearances with the Hounds, the former Baldwin High and Penn State Behrend standout, found a career resurgence with the Colorado Switchbacks.

Seth led the Switchbacks in goals (eight) and assists (five) while tallying 2,074 minutes over 28 regular season matches. In two seasons with the Switchbacks, Seth appeared in 54 games, scoring 12 goals and recording eight assists.

Seth joins San Antonio FC from Phoenix where he played in four games this season. But the addition of some new players to the team’s attack, including team owner and former Chelsea FC standout Dideir Drogba, made Seth expendable.

Most recently, Seth made two starts and recorded four shots in 154 total minutes played while completing 64.5 percent of his passes over the course of his time in Arizona.

Seth also appeared in both of Phoenix’s Open Cup matches, scoring a goal against the Fresno Fuego in the second round of the tournament.

In his developmental years, he played club soccer for Century United while also excelling at Baldwin High School.
