Brandt: Hounds playoff push ‘A matter of executing’

Despite a deeply disappointing 3-0 defeat to Louisville City FC on Saturday, the Riverhounds’ coach, Dave Brandt, remains steadfast in his approach, confident and believing in his players as they embark on a five-week dash to the finish line to claim an USL Eastern Conference playoff spot.

“It’s a function of us,” Brandt said Wednesday at Highmark Stadium, as the team took the day off from training. “On the other edge of the knife, it’s just a little bit of getting too complacent. And all that stuff goes away when you lose like we did. To me, at least, it’s a constant balancing act. The emotions, how you manage them. How I manage them myself. I don’t think it’s ever easy. I don’t think it’s just a matter of finding a group that clicks, roll out there, and I can fold my arms across my chest. That’s never the way it works.”

For the full story, be sure to read on DK Pittsburgh Sports, as I get a lot more from Brandt on his tactical approach heading into the critical final five games, cover what to expect vs stingy Rochester and Brandt also shares more about the Hounds precarious goalkeeper situation.
