Trailing 2-0 to defending boys 1A champion Camp Hill entering the second half of its first-ever appearance in the PIAA soccer finals, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic battled back with a pair of Ryan Augustine second half goals to force overtime.
Camp Hill thwarted the Trojans valiant comeback attempt — and its bid for a first PIAA title — with a Dylan Mayanja goal, finishing off a cross from Jake Coniglio coming four minutes into the first overtime.
Mayanja scored twice, including a penalty kick late in the first half that gave Camp Hill a commanding two-goal lead.
The Trojans battled back in the second half, thanks in large part to Augustine, who redirected a Nick Milas ball into the box in the 53rd minute.
With eight minutes remaining in the contest, Augustine drew a foul in the box, setting up a penalty opportunity which he slid into the right side of goal to level the contest at 2-2.
The Lions brought early pressure in the first overtime, including a few dangerous balls in that came close before the eventual game winner.

Much of the past few seasons, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic boys soccer has been going places it’s never gone before.
A year ago they played in first WPIAL playoff game in nearly 20 years — and made it to the district final, and to the PIAA quarterfinals.
They year, they captured the WPIAL title for the first time with a commanding 2-0 victory at Highmark Stadium over section rivals Springdale.
Now, they’re pushing their way through the PIAA playoffs, they ran into stern challenge from Brockway on Tuesday night in the semifinals, but pulled out a win in overtime with a Ryan Augustine goal, lifting CWNC to its first-ever PIAA finals appearance. Augustine also scored a goal late in regulation in a 1-0 quarterfinal win vs Mercer.
The Trojans, led by a trio of super sophomores Joe Kearney (55 goals), Bryce Kopchak and Augustine, are in for a challenge on Saturday, facing a seasoned Camp Hill squad that are the defending PIAA champs, who beat WPIAL Sewickley Academy 3-1 in last year’s final.
North Catholic has also been outstanding in defending. The Trojans have not given up a goal in seven postseason games and have allowed only six goals the entire season.
It looks like they’ll have to play their best on Saturday against a dangerous Camp Hill attack.
Camp Hill comes rolling into this game too — smashing Masterman in the semifinal by a 6-0 margin.
Senior Jake Coniglio had a hat trick — and appears to one of the players to watch.
Like North Catholic having only one loss to an upper classification playoff team (4A Pine-Richland beat them 1-0). Camp Hill’s only loss was to Class 3A finalist Lower Dauphin. The Lions are in the final for the fourth time and hope to claim their second title.
