Hounds decline all active player contract options prior to deadline

The Riverhounds are doing a lot of roster restructuring.

Today, they have officially announced initial roster plans for the 2018 off season. Ahead of the league player option deadline today at 5 p.m. ET, the club has declined all active contract options.

As he indicated in detail in a sit down with me yesterday, head coach Bob Lilley said the club is currently in the process of restructuring contracts of players previously under option. Additionally, the club is in negotiation with players who are out-of-contract from last season’s squad.

Lilley said yesterday that he has met with each and every player from last year’s Hounds roster —  acknowledging that that there will be a few players from 2017 roster that will be returning.

“That has been our priority over the past few weeks,” Lilley said. “We have group of players we want to move forward with and we’re in the process of restructuring deals.”

Players previously under option are the following: defender Tobi Adewole, forward Kay Banjo, goalkeeper Keasel Broome, defender Shane Campbell, defender Ritchie Duffie, midfielder Ben Fitzpatrick, midfielder Mike Green, midfielder Kenroy Howell, defender Jamal Jack, goalkeeper Trey Mitchell, forward Romeo Parkes and midfielder Victor Souto.

Players currently out-of-contract are the following: defender Ryan Adeleye, defender Gale Agbossoumonde, goalkeeper Brenden Alfery, defender Rich Balchan, midfielder Danny Earls, forward Corey Hertzog, midfielder Kevin Kerr, midfielder Stephen Okai, goalkeeper Matt Perrella, midfielder Jack Thompson and defender Nick Thompson.

Pittsburgh has one player under contract, forward Chevaughn Walsh, who is in the final year of a three-year deal signed during the 2016 season.
