Hounds sign two more former Rhinos, including @PITT_MSoc alum Lynd

Riverhounds have signed goalkeeper Dan Lynd and defender Jordan Dover to one-year deals with a club option for the 2019 season, pending USL and USSF approval.

Both former members of the Rochester Rhinos, Lynd and Dover rejoin teammates Christiano François and Raymond Lee in Pittsburgh, who were signed earlier this month by the Hounds in the club’s first new additions this offseason.
Prior to signing with the Rhinos in 2016, Lynd, 23, played four seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, recording no less than 14 appearances in each of his final three years with the Panthers. He also spent two seasons with the Hounds U-23 squad in the Premier Development League (PDL) from 2014-15.
The Penfield, New York native worked under current Hounds goalkeeping coach Hunter Gilstrap in his first two years at Pitt, as well as when with the U-23 team.
“It’s very exciting for us to have Dan coming back to Pittsburgh,” Gilstrap said. “I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to coach him while he was here and we’ve kept in touch over the years. With him coming back, it now feels as if things are coming full circle.

“He is a good young goalkeeper with tons of upside and I’m looking forward to working with him this season to help him develop into the top-level pro keeper we think he is capable of becoming.”

Lynd made 11 starts for the Rhinos across 2016-17 with the bulk of his minutes coming this past year. He notched three clean sheets in 10 starts with a .647 save percentage in 2017.
A native of Ajax, Canada, Dover, 23, signed his first professional contract with Rochester prior to the 2017 season. He appeared primarily at right back for the club, making 23 appearances (19 starts), as well as starting both of the club’s USL Cup postseason tilts.
Dover’s presence in the defensive end, most notably, translated to him finishing fifth on the team with 46 interceptions total, including the playoffs.

“Jordan was more than deserving of his Rookie of the Year award in Rochester. He shows up every day ready to compete,” head coach Bob Lilley said. “On the ball, he is very hard to beat in wide areas and explosive going forward, which leaves opposing wingers having to chase him more often than not.”

Before going pro with Rochester, Dover competed for Durham United FA of the semi-professional League1 Ontario north of the border. Dover spent the 2016 season with the club, finishing fourth on the team in minutes played and marking one goal and two assists in 16 appearances.
Collegiately, Dover played for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from 2012-15 at midfield, making 63 appearances (58 starts) and finishing with five goals and one assist. He was a Horizon League All-Newcomer Team selection during his freshman year.
With the signings of Lynd and Dover, the Hounds roster currently sits at nine players under contract heading into the New Year.
