Klingenberg rejoins #USWNT roster for January friendly

Meghan Klingenberg will be back in familiar spot this January on the United States Women’s soccer team roster as the defending World Cup champs prepare for a January 21 friendly against Denmark in advance of the 2018 international competition cycle.

Kingenberg, who helped lead the Portland Thorns to a 2018 NWSL league title, returns to the USWNT roster for the first time since June.

The 29-year old tenacious left back from Gibsonia, who started every match of the 2015 World Cup run, will be looking to work her way into the fold, after battling through some injuries in early 2017, and then being left off head coach Jill Ellis’ late year selections.

This January, Ellis will explore options to choose a squad for the SheBelieves Cup in March as four of the world’s top-six ranked teams – the USA (1), Germany (2), England (3) and France (6) – contest the world’s most elite four-team tournament for the third consecutive year.
