Pittsburgh Riverhounds

Hounds logoPittsburgh Soccer Report provides comprehensive and objective coverage of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of United Soccer League (USL).

Soccer Report’s John Krysinsky provides game previews, all home, and occasional road game reports, as well as his perspectives and takeaways from games in “Takeaways” or “What We Learned” along with other feature stories.

The Riverhounds have competed at various levels of the second and third tiers of United States Soccer — originally competing in the United Soccer League “A-League” in its inaugural season in 1999.   The Riverhounds are now part of the newly expanded USL that includes a comprehensive partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) — as many teams are affiliated or operated by MLS franchises.  In December 2015, the Riverhounds entered into an affiliation agreement with the Columbus Crew of MLS.

Highmark Stadium

Since 2013, the Riverhounds have made Highmark Stadium their home.  The soccer specific facility is located on the banks of the Monongahela River at Station Square, on the South Side, with a scenic view of Downtown Pittsburgh and the Golden Triangle in the background.  Highmark Stadium capacity is listed at 3,500, but with standing room areas, can fit from 4,200-4,400 fans.
